PEX cards can be used at fuel pumps and/or inside convenience stores. Contact your Administrator to see what restrictions if any apply to your card. You can also log into your cardholder account at dashboard.pexcard.com to see where your card can be used:
  1. If you are purchasing gas at the pump, or your Spend Rules read “Fuel Pump Use Only”
    • A minimum available balance is needed per swipe, to ensure the card has enough funds available to cover the full amount of the pumped gas.
    • This minimum available balance is often set to $49 (Forty-nine USD), however gas merchants may require a higher minimum balance
    • This will cause the gas provider to place a hold on the card per gas transaction for the minimum available funds
      • For example, a merchant requiring a $49 minimum balance will place a hold for $49 on the card
    • Transactions will settle at the actual amount of the purchase in 2-3 days
  2. If you are purchasing inside the store, or if your Spend Rules read “Fuel Pump and Convenience Store Use”
    • There are no minimum spend requirements set by gas stations for gas purchases if purchased in the convenience store.
    • To limit convenience store purchases to fuel only, you may create a custom spend rule with mcc codes 5541 or 5542. Custom mcc codes are available on Pro and Infinite pricing plans.
